News: the Good, the Bad and the Ugly

the Good: Let us applaud the layout staff at the Dallas Morning News.

the Bad: NDA Alums and others who suffered from Tuesdays with Morrie may take grim pleasure in knowing that Mitch Albom wrote about stuff that hadn't happened yet (and, as it turned out, didn't happen) in his newspaper column. But journalistic integrity being what it is today, he's keeping his job.

the Ugly: Rather than writing about things that didn't happen, the US Government is not writing about things that did. The State Department inexplicably decided not to include the numbers on terrorist attacks in its annual terrorism report to Congress. When Congress complained, private briefings were held, and the facts are now partially out in the open. The number of significant terrorist attacks more than tripled last year. You may recall that the numbers from 2003 (once the State Department corrected them) were already a 20-year high.
