Twelve Days, by Steven Barnes

Twelve Days is a sequel of sorts to Barnes' Kundalini Equation from 30 years ago, and like that book it has a central core of martial arts and the borderland of psychic/paranormal woo-woo. That's a topic that doesn't punch my buttons, but I know well that those buttons are near and dear to Barnes himself. Mix the Ascended Masters of martial arts, a budding romance, a heist, and an assassination plot to bring down Eastern cultural evils and Western imperialism. And then have them all jumble together at the climax. It makes for a decent and entertaining thriller, if not a great one.
