The House in November by Keith Laumer

Laumer tries his hand at a sort of phildickian short novel, with lousy results. It starts off potentially promising with mind control, altered memories, and alien invasion. But it rapidly gets ridiculous as Laumer piles on more crap to try to pep things up. Special mention for awkward love-interest between the protagonist and his daughter's 19-year-old friend. Fortunately, his wife dies near the end, or it might have gotten even more awkward.
