Live and Let Die, by Ian Fleming @ 02:55 pm
A fine Bond adventure, and always curious to compare the novel to the film, which forms my earliest memory of film, at a drive-in with my parents (I remember it as a double-feature with Logan's Run, but that may be some conflation at work). I'm afraid the skull in the opening credits seared its way into my brain, with ensuing results that may have lasted a lifetime. Some parts of the film are better than the novel, and some parts of the novel are better than the film. If nothing else, the novel taught me the word jippa-jappa, which is used more generically for some sort of fabric made of straw.
